Addiction Counsellor

Job Description

Accountabilities:

• Individual, family, and group counselling within an addiction recovery model
• Case management
• Data collection and reporting
• Attendance at staff and other community/hospital meetings
• Supporting quality improvement initiatives
• Consistent patient documentation on electronic files

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in healthcare/social services or related field required
• Post‑graduate degree/diploma in mental health and addictions an asset
• Regulated health professional, able to perform the controlled act of psychotherapy (or eligible to register with an applicable provincial college) preferred
• Minimum three yearsexperience in counselling to those who have a substance use disorder and problem gambling required
• Experience supporting family members and those involved in providing support to the primary patient required
