What you’ll be doing on the job
- Exercises economy in the use of consumables and stationery.
- Conducts frequent rounds to attend to patient’s needs, comfort and safety.
- Assists in admission and orientation of new patients.
- Assists patient/babies with basic personal hygiene e.g. mouth wash, brushing of teeth, bed bathing, and cleaning and changing of diapers.
- Prepares and serves beverages and drinks and bottle feed babies when necessary.
- Assists with lifting, transferring, ambulating and positioning of patients.
- Attends to patients’ elimination needs – offers, removes and sanitises bedpans and urinals.
- Maintains cleanliness and neatness of patient surroundings.
- Accompanies patients to other departments in the hospital, and to taxi stand/car‑park upon discharge.
- Adheres to Infection control practices eg. Standard precautions and hand hygiene.
