Billing-Prior Authorization Specialist

Position Summary

The University at Buffalo (SDM) is seeking a Billing-Prior Authorization Specialist . This position will report to the Billing Supervisor. The primary purpose of this position is to perform billing and pre-authorization functions with support for Admissions Dept. Additional requirements include performing billing tasks in collaboration with the Billing Supervisor as required. This individual works closely with students, residents, staff and faculty to maintain the efficient effective workflow and operation of the dental clinics.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

• Manage follow up on insurance claims and enter claim information through insurance carrier websites.
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, coverage, and financial approvals.
• Obtain prior authorizations for imaging and dental procedures and resolve related issues with codes or approvals.
