Onboard Salish Sea vessels as Chief Mate, you are a leader of a professional marine team who inspires and educates passengers from all over the world! You will be working with a team who is outgoing and passionate about sharing their knowledge of our BC coast and its wildlife. As Chief Mate, you are a part of the bridge crew. Together with the Master, you are responsible for the safe operation of the vessel, its crew, and passengers.
Responsibilities:
- Operating the vessel in accordance with Transport Canada Standards, Transport Canada Shipping Act, and its regulations.
- Conducting crew drills as required by Transport Canada and company SOPs.
- Start up and shutdown of the vessel each working day.
- Ensuring the vessel is ready for the start of the next day.
- Working with the shore crew to provide our guests with the best possible experience.
