About BHS

Basic Healthcare Services (BHS) is a not-for-profit organization with a vision of a world where marginalized and vulnerable communities lead a healthy life with dignity. The organization runs a network of AMRIT Clinics that provide high-quality and low-cost primary health care to rural and tribal communities in south Rajasthan. Six such clinics serve a population of nearly 100,000, approximately 90% of which is tribal. BHS also runs phulwaris (daycare centres for children under 5) that provide a safe environment, nutritious food, and learning and play to children from tribal communities; 18 phulwaris enroll nearly 400 children. To improve nutritional status of tribal communities, BHS works with other organizations to improve availability of nutritious foods at the household level.
