Job Summary:
The Mechanical Assistant – Steam and Gas –safely accomplishes the installation, maintenance, and repair of the heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications. Mechanical Assistants receive direction from Lead or Sr. Turbine Mechanics and may work closely with Craft Labor Supervisors, EHS personnel, and the Operations Department to achieve these goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Possess knowledge about specific activity tools and be able to use them safely

Work on any part of an equipment maintenance project with limited supervision

Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures

Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs

Dismantle machinery and/or equipment as needed

Repair and or rebuild large industrial equipment
