About the role
The Mortgage Officer is primarily responsible for managing the residential mortgage file from the sign back of the commitment letter to funding. The role ensures all broker conditions are fulfilled and the mortgage file is completed in accordance with company policies and guidelines. It drives quality through accuracy and efficiency while meeting required service levels.
Responsibilities
- Review mortgage files to ensure client documentation—income verification, bank statements, down payment, and client interviews—meet all lending policies and are accurate and complete.
- Takes ownership of approved files, analyses data, updates internal records, and verifies file metrics remain within company guidelines.
- Notes any discrepancies and provides approval credit rationale as required.
- Ensures all documents are signed back and received from mortgage brokers within established SLAs.
