Painter

The incumbent in this position is responsible for applying paint, stain, and other finishes to property walls, ceilings, furniture, and other surfaces. The employee must also clean up, store paint and painting tools and equipment, and maintain storage areas in appropriate condition.

Responsibilities

• Remove old paint, fill nail holes, cracks, and joints, smooth surfaces, and apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures.
• Follow policies and procedures for safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
• Erect scaffolding or set up ladders safely to perform tasks above ground level.
• Demonstrate broad knowledge of painting concepts, practices, and procedures.
