OVERVIEW
The Physician Assistant (PA) is an unregulated health care provider who works under the supervision of a registered physician. The PA supports the physician as the principle medical‑decision maker and the supervising physician is responsible for the direction of the PA’s activities.
All PA activity will take place within the physician‑patient relationship, whether actual or imminent. The goal of the PA is to provide health care to patients having first established a partnership of trust with the supervising physician that is then extended to the patients of the physician's practice. Under the supervision of a physician, PAs meet the needs of the patients by treating immediate illness, guiding patients through recovery, advising them on healthier choices, and educating them on disease prevention.
