Seabird Observers | UK

We are seeking experienced Offshore Seabird Observers/Surveyors to support seabird monitoring activities in an offshore wind farm area. The primary role involves collecting occurrence and behavioural data of seabirds through boat surveys. This is a field-based role, predominantly offshore, and will consist of periodic 6-day survey campaigns (12 surveys in total) over a two-year period. Successful candidates will be selected from a pool of seabird identification specialists who meet the qualifications and competencies outlined below.

• Offshore seabird surveys: Participate in offshore seabird surveys, following standardized protocols and methodologies.
• Record detailed observations of seabird species, including: Identification, behaviour, flight patterns, and spatial distribution. Estimation of bird counts, flight heights, trajectories, and distances using tools such as rangefinders.
