As a senior data engineer you will first and foremost act as an example to the others in your team when it comes to development practices, clean code and software design. Your experience will be invaluable when making decisions and creating a future proof application. Aside that you will also contribute directly to the codebase, and assist with the end to end responsibilities that we have as a devops team.
Some typical activities include:
Championing good development practices (examples: rigorous PR reviews, coaching junior engineers, helping steer design decisions)
Monitoring production processes and troubleshooting
Creating new data products (onboarding new data, adding transformation logic etc.)
Adding features to underlying platforms
Improvement and optimization of existing code
