Technical Staff

Under the supervision of the Chair of Physics, the technician is responsible for supporting laboratory-based instruction, instructional lab & research lab equipment setup and maintenance, and departmental recruitment efforts. The technician should ideally not only plan to complete these tasks regularly throughout the year but also plan and discuss improvements proactively with faculty members and researchers.

Responsibilities

• Assign duties to teaching assistants (TAs)
• Fill assignment of work forms for TAs.
• Set up student labs (PHYS 1030L,1113L,1211L,1010L,1133L,1212L, 2211L, 3231L)
• Be generally available during the lab to deal with unforeseen equipment problems
• Compile and provide the lab instructors with final student grades
• Fill performance evaluation forms for TAs at the end of each course
• Ordering of all supplies and consumables for teaching labs
• Ordering of supplies for research lab...
